A002HCS55is a one component, heat-curing adhesive and sealant based on flexible epoxy resin.
As a sealant, it is especially designed for sealing on E-coated surfaces prior to a paint or powder-coating process.
Features
Adheres well to most E-coated substrates and to oily metal substrates.
Suitable for powder-coating processes.
High temperature resistance of 160-220 ℃(320-430°F), no aging and discoloration.
Spot welding still possible.
Does not contain solvents or PVC.
Typical application
A002HCS55is designed as an adhesive / sealant. As an adhesive, it is usually used in combination with spot welding, riveting, clinching and other mechanical fastening techniques to fix the parts until the curing process is completed.
Bonding of oily substrates is possible up to an oil amount of 3 g/m2. Due to the wide variety of oils, tests with original substrates and conditions are mandatory.
A002HCS55 is also well suited for sealing applications on E-coated metals prior to subsequent paint processes (including powder coating processes).

Construction process
Cure Mechanism
It is cured by heat. Curing depends both on temperature and elapsed time. The most suitable heat sources are convection ovens. The best curing condition is >175°C*30min.The minimum heating temperature is 160°C (320°F), while the maximum temperature must not exceed 220°C (430°F).
It is mandatory to perform tests with original parts to ensure proper curing and function of the bonded part under original conditions.
Metal Surface Preparation
This material has been developed to adhere to metals which have been cleaned, treated, and primed.
This material will not adhere to untreated metal.
For best performance, substrate should be free of contamination before material is applied.
Application
It is recommended that testing is completed on substrates to be used to validate this material prior to use.
Deviations from cure cycle may result in deviations from the shear strength which may interfere with material performance.
It can be applied with standard piston, gear or rotary pumps. It can also be applied out of cartridge tubes.
The material is homogeneous and contains no abrasives that will affect pumping equipment.
This material can be dispensed using a pumping system. This should include a high pressure ratio pump, with a follower plate and flow guns with tips appropriate to the bead size needed.
Care should be taken in system design to insure that flow restrictions are minimized. Flow restrictions occur when headers, hoses, and/or nozzles are too small for the application.
Method of Application
The adhesive can be applied in form of a round bead with a diameter of 1 - 10 mm.
To avoid excess moisture, uptake, which can lead to blistering, parts shall be joined after the adhesive application and curing performed within 24 hours.
If this should not be possible, perform as a pre-curing process as defined below.
Pre-Curing
- For wash-out resistance pre-cure for 5 minutes at 160°C (320°F);
- For reduction of moisture uptake (for example for shipping, etc.) and to reach handling strength pre-cure for 15 minutes at 160°C (320°F). Curing must be completed afterwards with a second heating process.
Removal
Fresh, uncured material can be removed with the aid of Isopropyl Alcohol. Large amounts of material can be removed using towels or rags and then cleaned with Isopropyl Alcohol.
Cured material can only be removed mechanically
General Information
Shutdown - For extended shutdown periods, greater than 8 hours, it is recommended that pressure be removed from the system to reduce possibility of caking in lines.
Material Purge - Regular purge and cleaning of the application system is recommended, please contact your sales representative for material requirements and instructions.
As with all materials, it is recommended that to ensure consistent material, this product is used in a First In - First Out
